Cecilia Lavigne, DVM
Dr. Cecilia Lavigne knew she wanted to be a veterinarian since she was young. She attended the University of Connecticut where she enjoyed cheering on UConn’s basketball teams and being involved in many clubs, such as Sigma Alpha (Sisters in Agriculture) and the Woodsmen team. During her time at UCONN, Dr. Lavigne traveled to South Africa for a Vets in the Wild program. There, she gained experience caring for rhinos, giraffes, elephants, and many other exotic animals. After receiving her Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science at UCONN, Dr. Lavigne traveled to Ames, IA where she pursued her veterinary degree at Iowa State College of Veterinary Medicine.
After receiving her Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine, she has enjoyed providing care to all animals big and small. Some of Dr. Lavigne’s special interests include fostering the human-animal bond, performing surgery, and practicing mixed animal medicine. She enjoys working with all animals, but especially enjoys her time with horses, small ruminants, and dogs.
In her free time, Dr. Lavigne enjoys riding her horse, Lily, and going on long walks with her pugs, George and Tiny. On rainy days, you will find Dr. Lavigne reading a book with her two cats, Pip and Stella, on her lap. She also enjoys hiking, camping, boating, and spending time with family and friends. Dr. Lavigne is excited to meet you and care for your pets!
